A team of civil society leaders will visit Buddhist temples, monasteries and houses in Ramu and Ukhia upazilas of Cox's Bazar on Saturday.
During the visit, the team will create pressure upon local administration for an immediate and thorough investigation into this incident.
The team members announced the programme at a press conference at TSC cafeteria of Dhaka University on Friday.
The 14-member team included eminent columnist Syed Abul Maksud, Gono Forum Presidium Member Pankaj Bhattacharya, Liberation War Museum trustee Tariq Ali, writer Audity Falguni, Institute of Environmental Development (IED) Executive Director Numan Ahmed Khan and Dhaka University Professor Rubaiyat Ferdous.
The team is expected to return to the capital on Monday and will share their experiences to journalists through a press conference.
A mob destroyed 12 Buddhist temples and monasteries and more than 50 houses in Ramu upazila of Cox's Bazar September 29 midnight.
The violence was apparently triggered by a Facebook posting of a photo defaming the holy Quran.
Some miscreants also vandalised two monasteries and a Hindu temple in Patiya upazila of Chittagong and torched two monasteries at Ukhia and five houses at Teknaf upazila in Cox's Bazar.
