DHAKA: A writ petition was filed on Sunday with the High Court seeking directive upon the government to constitute a judicial probe commission for investigating into Ramu violence that later spread to Patiya, Ukhiya and Teknaf. Advocate Eunus Ali Akond, a Supreme Court lawyer, filed the petition.

The petition also sought HC directive on the government to pay compensation for the victims of the violence and to record the statement of the political leaders both from ruling and opposition parties to ensure proper investigation into the incident.

The HC is likely to hear on the petition on Monday, Eunus told reporters,

Earlier on October 3, Eunus filed a writ petition with the HC challenging inaction of the government to prevent the incident of attack on the temples, monasteries and houses of Buddhists people in Cox's Bazar and Chittagong.
