Dhaka, Oct 10 (bdnews24.com)—The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged
not to react to any unfounded reports and rumours regarding Myanmar and remain
alert about any provocations by vested quarters.
The caution came in the backdrop reports appearing in a section of the media in Bangladesh concerning reported attack and burning of the central mosque in the Rakhine state of Myanmar.
"Foreign Ministry has, through Bangladesh Embassy in Yangon and Bangladesh Consulate in Sittwe, checked the veracity of the report and wishes to state categorically that there has been no such attack on the mosque and that the press reports were totally unfounded and baseless," said a media statement.
Bangladesh Embassy in Yangon has also reported that the Myanmar government has taken adequate precautionary measures to check possible backlash following the Ramu incident.
